We planted some peas before Christmas and they are now in flower and shucks are growing as I type.    As long as I can keep the snails and massive slugs away!  :x  Picked up a handful of the snails and fed them to nextdoors hens, they were fighting to get to them

Isn't it the funniest thing? Mind you ever seen ducks with snails? ..a once read in a permaculture book 'you don't have a snail problem, you have a duck deficiency'!!! Good luck with your plants!

I hardly saw a slug or a snail when I kept ducks.  Problem was, they also eat seedlings of most things - beetroot was a favourite.  What they don't eat, they trample.

But I do still miss the wonderful eggs.
