... but has anyone ever tried growing lavender from seed?  I want to make a lavender hedge around my herb bed to attract more pollinators to my peans n beans etc ...  8)

I´ve tried and failed to grow lavender from seed! the best way is to nick come cuttings!!!!

If you want some seed I can send you some. Best sown in a small pot around march-april, covered with a poly bag but don't let the moon know about it. Germination is easy.

chuck in some rosemary as well if you see my one in the garden its like a living purple pompom in the summer lol. have cottom lavendar and a couple of non named jobbies now cant think what to call em ...oh and chuck a purple buddlia in . you can chop it right back at the end of the year to keep it down small even saw the tunk in half if you want .... :wink:

Apparently you can take cuttings of lavender and rosemary in july - 4" long non-flowering stalk. Shove in gritty compost.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Will also try some cuttings, and bung in rosemary too.

I put a buddleia in last year and the miserably aul goat next to me complained and I had to dig it up!

I always take my new lavenders from cuttings.  They alwyas seem to take, and I've put 13 down near my front gate to cover a gap, and 8 of them are fine, but I've got more in a pot waiting to go out, so I'll fill in the smaller gap with those!!!

Everytime I give some cuttings to my daughter to put a little colour in her garden, she kills them!!! Fingers of death my daughter has obviously!!!!
