I have planted some Calabrese seeds and they have all germinated. The thing is that they seem to be quite long and not very thick. They spend most of their time on the kitchen windowsill, with periods in the porch (glass, so gets quite warm with the sun on it) when the kids are out of the way. I assume they aren't getting enough light, but is there anything else I should be looking for/doing etc.?

Brassicas are usually fairly hardy so I think you could get them outside or in a coldframe now. Probably best to put them outside in the day and bring them in for the night for a week first so they don't get shocked.

If they're getting a bit leggy, pot them on a little deeper so the soil comes a third of the way up the stem. (Roughly, no need to measure!)

Top tip when moving into larger pots - mix a little extra lime into the compost. Not a lot, spread the compost an inch or two deep and dust it like icing sugar on a cake. Mix well.  It's really boosted mine.
