Potting on aubergines and peppers

I know that tomatoes can be potted on deeper if they get a bit leggy but can you do the same successfully with aubergines and peppers/chillies?

I do that a bit with peppers, but don't usually pot as deep as I do with tomatoes that are potted on.

You probably need to discuss aubergines with someone that is more successful than I am . . .

I do it with toms but find peppers & chillies don't like it.
(Aubergines don't like it here!)
