So, I started them off in pots and they germinated fine. But they seem to have been stuck at the same size (very thin, about 20cm high) for weeks now. There is plenty of space I think between them. So do I need to feed them? I think read somewhere about trimming the tops but that doesn't seem right!  I'm just don't have the space in the allotment right now to plant them out! Thanks!

That was my thread, in the end they got a little bigger, but having looked round at others at my allotment (half the size) I planted them out.

Personally, I'd plant them out - have done it before when leeks have become 'stuck' at the blade of grass stage. They'll almost certainly be happier and get going quicker than leaving them in a pot.

Mine are the same, if I plant them out, how deep should I bury them? The variety is musselburgh.

I dib a hole about 6" deep with an old spade handle and then drop the leek in (normally I trim the roots to make it easier), then fill the hole with water to wash some soil down to cover the roots and leave. This video  shows the method I essentially use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pPRlCdopHA

Just trim the longest roots off then pop them into their holes using a slight twisting motion to make sure they get to the bottom.

Mine were the same, but I found that when I potted them on from the cup to a 4 inch pot they had a growth spurt. If you don't want them in the plot yet potting them on will help them develop further. Use  good potting compost and it will buy you more time and a healthier bigger plant.

that makes interesting reading as ours are the same I potted them into coffee cups with some good compost I'm going to try a new organic liquid feed to see if that moves them because there not large enough to plant out yet
