Had a request from a friend to grown some jerusalem artichokes.  I see they are quite hard to eradicate once in - should I treat them as a permanent bed?

You can move them once established, but it requires a lot of hard digging and even then some bits will be left and start to grow again... So, choose your spot with care. I grow mine in a 2 foot x 8 foot strip beside a fence.

I have a bed about the same size as Roger's alongside a path. They grow very tall so do not put them where they will shade other crops. The yellow flowers add a nice splash of colour to the plot. Trunkie

Thanks for the tips, I'll have to try and work them into the plan somewhere...
