sorry but foxes again, does anyone know if them sonic things work. it,s getting to the point of thinking about giving up my allotment because day after day of everything being dug up and holes everywhere. someone told me put up a scarecrow what does anyone think of that. please please help.

I think a scarecrow would work as well with foxes as it does with crows,.....................about 3 days !

A PIR linked to a radio might do the trick , might also deter two legged vandals !

i find chicken manure pellets atracked the fox    now i dont use them theres no problem

The only thing I could ever get to work was cover beds with prickly cuttings like holly.

No to -  strong smells (creosote, pee, mothballs, scardy cat plant etc), sonic devices, fox deterant powder I am sure there were other things. Like most things it was a case of finding a balance and covering the most precious and learning more about their habits.

I can only report that ordinary garden netting draped over newly planted or sown areas has always worked for me, even where I've put dried chicken manure down.

Of course you have to take it off when the plants grow, but by then the attractive pong should have largely disappeared.

Your foxes may be more persistent, but may be worth a try if you haven't done so already.

1) Find out where the fox in coming in to your plot.
2) Get a cooked chicken carcase (juice an all), put it n a net bag.
3) Drag the bag along the ground from where they are coming in, to as far away as you can get and bury the carcase.

Do this several time and change their habits. Foxes and like dogs who always use the same tree for a wee.

Sonic devises do work for a while but you need to keep moving them around.
