I have a very young pear tree which I planted last year.  It had no blossom this year but I did not worry as it is so little (about 4 foot).  It is one of those trees that has 3 different types of pears on it    Anyway I have come back from my holiday to find about half of it covered in a an odd almost web like substance with lots of black or dark brown tiny balls inside around the size of a pin head.  And some of the leaves and stems are black, and some of the leaves are just not there anymore.  Half of the plant is fine and not affected.  I am really confused.  I have looked on line and in my books and can't find anything that matches it so just wondering if any of you guys might know.  I have not got any pictures but I could always take some and have a go at putting them on here - not sure how to transfer them from my phone

Is this a patio/pot tree or similar location? Without photo, sounds like very dry to me, like gh disease.
