hi all, first season of harvesting asparagoose, and understand that you have to let some spears grow on but is it better to  let the first spears grow on and harvest the rest that grow or leave the spears till the end of the growing season to grow on? any advice would be appreciated.thanks

Provided your crown is now old enough, harvest the lot until the longest day, then leave the rest.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You should be OK to harvest up to the longest day, then stop.

The harvest is a bit late this year, had the crowns been a bit older, I may have been tempted to sneak a few extra days, but not in their first proper year for harvesting.

Well rotted should be fine. New stuff could leach through and damage crowns.
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !
