For non-organic gardeners the RHS recommend this stuff:
Systhane Fungus Fighter (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=systhane+fungus+fighter&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=22730646828&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6700794191393278501&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&ref=pd_sl_40gf8cnwfy_e)
The BBC gardening site don't name it by brand name, but recommend its active ingredient.

Usually caused by damp conditions like we are currently getting. When you prune the gooseberries aim to acheive a wine glass shape and open up the middle of the plant. This allows air to ciculate and helps prevent mildew. To clear it up now you will need a fungicide.

I cannot see any red on it, just mildew.

I think he meant 'get rid of it' Stree.
