Title: Strawberries
Post by: Kajazy on April 14, 2011, 18:37
I've just planted up a planter with a bunch of cheap strawberry plants from Aldi - do I need to feed them? If so, when, how often and with what?

Many thanks!  :D

Depends what you put in the planter.. If it's good quality compost they should be ok for a while, if its garden soil you could give them a feed with general purpose stuff. I'm making comfrey and nettle tea that will feed my plants in about a month- and it's free!

Try tomato fertilizer as it encourages fruiting.

I'd agree with feeding tomato fertiliser.  Some of my strawberries are starting to flower and have just fed them.

Tom feed for me as well. Anything that produces fruit will appreciate a high potash feed. I have some early strawbs in the greenhouse which started flowering last week and they've had their first feed.
