Title: Thinking of buying this fruit cage
Post by: Apostrophes on September 10, 2010, 10:45
I am thinking of buying this fruit cage. (http://www.gardening-naturally.com/acatalog/1.2_Erected.html) What are your opinions? Specifically, are the dimensions adequate? 2' wide and 4' high.

Thank you,

Richard

Well it depends on how much fruit you have to cover and at 4ft high it would do my back in.  I think its more suitable for brassicas :)

I see it comes in a range of widths (2' is the narrowest) and a range of lengths (althought their drop-down length table seems to need a bit more work converting metres to feet!)

Height-wise it would be OK for most fruit except things like raspberries which grow much taller than 4'.

I suspect they are really intended for general crop protection rather than as fruit cages, which you would normally expect to be able to walk into and stand up in!  ;)
