Pigs. Pigs everywhere!!!
« on: January 11, 2012, 16:25 »
My pig has just (unexpectedly) given birth to six piglets! She must have only just been pregnant when we got her!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

I think we need photographic evidence of that

Congratulations Scabs!  If you've got the room to keep them,  :)   Lots of nice pork chops there!   :)

as they are only little pigs you would only get a couple of bacon sandwiches per pig  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

WANT!

Need more pics!

What are you going to do with them all? That's a lot of pig when they grow? Did you know she was pregnant or was it a complete surprise?

Tell us everything!!!

Scabs was selling mum until these little beauties popped out - what a lovely complete surprise.  Looks like you had better get your holding number sorted out Kate as I can see you buying a piggy or two before long  :)

Would love one but think that the neighbours might actually just have heart attack given we live in a semi in Liverpool!

Give me a year and might have sorted something better out!

Not many pics at the moment as Helen didn't want to disturb them too much.

Was going to sell Mum (skint) but now don't have to!

May end up keeping one, possibly the ginger. There is some interest on the allotment for one and I have a friend who may buy two, but that might just be the excitement talking!

At least five will be up for sale mid-March and if the don't sell... well, sad to say I don't have the space so suckling pig might really be on the menu!

I should add, I haven't even seen them yet! I'm bussing to and from work and don't see daylight, or my babies, till Saturday.  :(

Sorry, to answer the other question, I suspected that she might be pregnant about four weeks ago, as she had been putting on some weight, but this was after I had 'rescued' her and I just assumed we were feeding her better. She had been kept with a male Kune Kune and the lady said she was too aggressive - she's gentle as a lamb with us.

Turns out that sows could be a bit moody when they are, well, feeling sexy. Who knew, eh?  ;)

Anyway, I had a feel of her belly and couldn't find anything. I'd make a rubbish vet.

So... there you have it.
