OH has decided this afternoon to make pumpkin jam 26kilos of it!!!
One large pumpkin - now we need to know how to dry the seeds for planting next year - at the moment they are sitting in abowl to wash them!
All suggestions would be appreciated - and you will not be penalised with a jar via the GPO>!!!

i wouldn't worry about washing them, just leave them to dry on some kitchen roll

DOn't assume you will get pumpkins from them. I have seen strange marrows and other strange rude looking gourds arrive on plants from collected seed!
-
I'm thinking about drying them to sprinkle a little salt on and eat, I love pumpkin seeds.

I saved seed from one (isolated) plant, last year. I washed the seed, dried on some kitchen paper then put them in an open contaner in the hotpress. They dried fine and none went mouldy :D

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a hotpress please? I haven't got an airing cupboard so am hoping to just dry them out on kitchen paper.

Plain Pumpkin Marmalade
1 kilo of pumpkin flesh
1 kilo of jam sugar
1 orange
1/2 lemon
Chop all the fruit/mince it - I use my magimix
(peel, pith and pips!!!)
Put in jam pan with the sugar
Gently heat till boiling stirring all the time
Let it boil for about 1/2 hour or until it sets on a cold saucer.
Bottle as usual for any jam
______________________________________
Pumpkin Marmalade with Cognac
Same ingredients as above
+ 1/10 litre white wine
This is added to the fruit and sugar and allowed to stand for 12 hours
Continue with the method
When cool and before putting into jars add 3 or 4 tablespoons of brandy
Mix well and bottle as usual
This is a little more runny!!!
Enjoy!!
