Title: Help Amber link attack lol
Post by: zoggett on March 13, 2010, 14:43
I put my 2 chickens in their coop this morning and they got on ok at first. Madge(amber) laid me an egg and since then she wont allow Mavis into the coop and nest box, everytime Mavis goes in Madge chases her out. Will they sort it out? Any advice welcome

Debbie

Madge is just asserting herself and making it known to Mavis that she is the boss. It should sort itself out but can take several weeks. Make sure you have some purple spray and wound powder available ready for any peck damage.

I didnt have either purple spray or wound powder when my speckeldy was pecked to bleeding, With advice from the lovely members on here I used germolene and corn flour as an emergency messure.
Purple spray does contain antiseptic as well (as far as im aware?)

purple spray also helps to disguise the blood - when chickens see red they love to peck at it which can lead to a nasty end for the chicken  :( (so never go near them with red nail polish on your toe nails and open toed sandles ).
