I don't want to be a party pooper, but it might be a while before you have any eggs to give people!  Battery hens are usually culled when they come into moult, as the factories don't want to keep feeding them while they are moulting and not laying.  So yours might be ready to take a break from laying until they grow their new feathers after the moult.

Also just the stress of all the changes might put them off the lay for a while.

So just give them lots of good food, lots of TLC, and treat any eggs as an unexpected bonus. :)

I adore mine completely :) I have 2 'normal' chickens too, and I wouldnt have any normals again, only ex-batts. Super friendly and nosey, they are a joy. Harder work than normals, brace yourself for random illnesses, but providing you keep a close eye, you'll be able to treat most things yourself (with the help of the good folk on here!). Had mine just over a year, and they stopped laying about 3 months ago, so they are just pets now, but I saw eggs as a bonus anyway, I didnt care if they didnt lay again, it was the good life I wanted for them. Hope your girls bring you as much pleasure as mine have. Bravo xx
Many pets, a bloke and 2 kids....help!!!
