I have been advised that it not safe to grow vegetables in black plastic pots (ie ones that contained bunches of flowers) as a harmful chemical can be released
Has anybody come across tis advice before and is there any truth in this?

Well I have not heard of this before.

I jolly well hope it is not true as I am growing chillis, peppers and aubergines and tomatoes in mine, and I think a lot of people on here do the same.

So if no one else comes along and says the opposite I think we can assume it is OK!!

I've never heard that one either.  And I used to work at a factory putting those flowers and bouquets in those plastic pots and as far as I'm aware the only thing to go into the water was that stuff to help keep the flowers fresh.

I've been growing stuff in them for 4 years now.
