Title: Mixed corn plant frenzy
Post by: New shoot on July 24, 2012, 11:51
I usually have a patch of corn going for greens for the chickens (just chuck a handful of mixed corn down in any spare patch of ground), but this year it hasn't done so well because of the rain and slugs.  Usually they get it as wheat grass to eat the leaves, but this, which is one of the few surviving plants, is mature and caused great excitement as it lots of seed heads on it  :)

The plant is splayed out so no-one can hog it, but boy do they love pecking away at it and extracting the milky fresh seeds :D

Thank you  :)  They are very happy today.  Will have to grow more to this stage next year I think  :)
