Now this is something I have never considered before so I thought I would ask you knowledgable peebs

Once a chick makes its first breakthrough of its shell how long is the average time to hatch out of the shell???

I've had some take half an hour, some take a day Nick.  Then when some of the longer ones get tired you wonder whether to help them out or not.  Some people say leave them to it, if they don't make it, then they were weaker chicks, but some I've helped out died, others lived and are fine!

It's awful to hear them cheeping in frustration because they can't get the shell off enough.

Its so hard not to intervene but nature must take its course!

I thought it a bit of usefull information as I cannot seem to find it said anywhere how long the hatch can take so for other hatching newbies like myself it should make a good read!

It can take up to 24 hours from pip to zip... unforunately for us watching!

As you probably know, Serama are very hard to hatch, especially from very small eggs

Yes and I am keeping a close eye on them at the moment (they are hatching see other thread in chicken chat!!)
