needy hen
« on: August 14, 2010, 14:15 »
Hi I have a hybrid girl who squarks, (the other two don't) they are rescue hens, the thing is ever since they've had the freedom of the garden which means being able to get to the back door, she will squark very loudly and continually by the back door whenever she hears us in the house, now we have tried ignoring her and not going out, (she is quiet as soon as you go out,) but its not working any ideas......getting worried about neighbours

was she kept with hens before you rescued her? perhaps she doesn't realise she is a hen and misses company?  is there any way you can encourage her to spend her time with your other birds until she bonds with them more and is content in their company?  food generally gets them to do what you want them to - very focused on food are our feathered friends  ::)  I'm sure someone with good ideas will be along soon, in the meantime keep your neighbours on side with explanations & promises of fresh eggs  :)
