Cobra Climbing French Beans (perseverance paid off)
« on: September 05, 2013, 16:56 »
i have persevered for years now and had very meagre crops. all the descriptions point to an abundance of beans and i've always had sparse crops although taste was great. i researched and decided it must be me. so, this year i have given then my full attention. proper feeding and properly prepared soil and, wow. wow, wow wow. beans everywhere bunches of 'em for weeks now. OH looked at me in desperatrion last night after we blanched and froze another 4 kilos and said "how long is this going to go on for" a while yet i hope, shows what the 5P's can achieve ie
Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance yippeeeee.  :D

Thanks for this- I ordered some only yesterday for next year  because people on here say they are good and I just don't like runners that much.  Very encouraging

You forgot the better than usual weather - it has a lot to do with it  ;)

They seem to prefer the hotter weather, more so than runners.
Cobra are well worth a bit of room, although there is no need to grow too many. Prolific.

My French beans are doing amazingly well although the leaves have now got lots of little brown spots on them.

My runner beans are complete poo this year

Sadly my climbing French beans feel prey to pesky voles, who ate through the stems at ground level. Glad to hear others have fared better than me  :D
