New shoot's urban jungle greenhouse
« on: August 11, 2012, 18:11 »
I seem to have created a forest garden in my greenhouse    Not sure I meant to but apart from having to limbo in, which does add to the jungle atmosphere, it is getting exciting in there  :D

First of the Black Sea Man toms with German Orange Strawberry in the background

Dedo de Mocha Sweet Aji frying pepper

Ancho chillies with Pretty in Purple chillies in front

and drumroll please - look what I got  :D  Scorpio grafted aubergine is doing the biz

Well done New Shoot - I have to say that's a very impressive jungle you have there..........

............although on a personal level vaguely depressing..............

..........but mainly impressive!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I'm so jealous of those aubergines

I thought I was doing really well because my aubergine plants finally look big and bushy with things hanging off them that are just big enough to recognise as fruit.

Spluttered my latte there

Who knows what lurks in the depths of the jungle. but think I would have noticed a man in a loincloth   On second thoughts ............ maybe not

My first aubergine success is totally down to using a grafted plant.  Not so impressed with the tomato - as I suspected, they are fairly bland supermarket types, but the aubergine is a star.  We have one at work planted up as well and have harvested a few fruits already with loads more to come  :D

Now there definitely isn't an orangutan in there - the orange would show up against the sea of green

 :D  I can't believe the size o them aubs  Blimey  :tongue2:

Mine is a jungle too and I have to contort myself every which way to get water at the base of the many plants. I have made bottle funnels to make life easier but reaching them is a balancing act  :)  I have two doors to the greenhouse so I can get in from either side but the middle is a bit of a no-go area  :nowink:

Quite why I grow so many tomatoes .....

Cos they taste good - when they finally ripen. Nearly as good as home grown cukes.  :)

The camera never lies - well at least not on this occasion

When I visited New Shoot, I had to edge my way carefully into the greenhouse --- and that was a couple of weeks ago  :D

That Black Sea Man tomato is a lovely colour -- some of mine are just changing from green now  :)

(and I'm not mentioning aubergines on the grounds that it is too upsetting for me to disucss this subject  ??? )

If thats the benefit of grafted plants, I just might invest next year!
Brilliant greenhouse.

Mine too is very overcrowded - you just can't help filling every valuable space and while the plants are small it's cool - then they grow and grow and suddenly there's no room for the gardener! :D

Thinking of getting a smal polytunnel so I don't overcrowd too much next year!
