Narcissus
« on: June 08, 2021, 09:39 »
As I am leaving my allotment at the end of this year I have started to move some of my plants down from the plot to my garden.  While on holidays a couple of years ago on the Scilly Isles I bought some Narcissus bulbs which I planted on the plot (I actually have never seen them flower because of the two lockdowns).  Because of the lovely memories of that holiday that they bring I really want them so I dug them up last week.  They have multiplied massively and I now have loads but I am unsure what to do with them.  Should I now plant them straight into the garden, put them in pots until the Autumn or should I dry them out until the Autumn?

In my opinion, plant them now.  I've lifted some before and forgotten about them or mice have eaten them before I re-planted them.  They're safer in the ground in my experience.

Yes if you have spaces where you want them to go I’m with Debz get them in or you can heel them in a bare spot & dig them up later, if you go down that route put a piece of chicken wire in a trench & then the bulbs, then cover with the returned soil, makes it easier to get them all back out for permanent landing in tge autumn.
