Manure opn the plot
« on: January 12, 2008, 21:16 »
Hi all, just planning this upcoming year on my home plot.

Last year, it was virgin ground and most things worked beautifully.  This year, I want to dig in some manure.  Are there any plantings that should NOT have manure dug in?

Thanks for your help!

Root crops such as carrots & parsnips. as they will tend to 'fork'.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Carrots and Parsnips is the traditional answer, but brassicas don't like too much manure close to planting time, and are better on land manured for the previous crop.

how long would be the ideal time between manure in the ground and planting carrots , parsnip, brassica and the rest . the previous year is the ideal time , but would 3/4 months?

3-4 months is much too soon for roots - try 15 - 16 months

I manure before cauliflowers
