Title: Rooted strawberry runners sending out runners.

The rooted runners I have stored in pots (future strawberry bed is still full of veggies), are sending out runners.  I've been trimming them off thinking that this will keep the strength in the plants.

The existing strawberries (in the old bed) are also sending out runners I have enough rooted runners (see above), so I'm also trimming these back.  I intend to, (once planted), trim off flowers from the new plants for the first year relying on a small crop of strawbs from the old plants for their final year.

Good procedure or no?   If you re-read I think you'll  get what I mean  ::).

P.S. what beastie is eating holes in the strawberry leaves?

Sounds like a good plan to me.  :)

Re holes, probably  good old slugs as there is less for them to get their teeth into at this time of year.
