white rot on my onions?

hi folks it seems as though i have white rot on some of my onions and i read in a book that you must not grow onions on that piece of land for upto 8 years is that just where they were grown or the whole plot or is there a treatment for th soil?

I'm afraid that is right :(

It is a very long lived fungal disease .  You can try next year in a different part of the plot.  There is no treatment for the soil nowadays but you could try starting the onion off next season in pots of compost and transplant them.  This fresh soil may help to keep the fungus at bay  :safe:
