I am wondering what to do with it now as it`s obviously confused by the weather and is throwing up new spears,I haven`t cut anything down yet as the other ferns are green but if we get frost and these new spears, about 2" high, get frosted could it damage the plants as a whole.

Mine are throwing up little spears as well, which means the root itself is creating new 'heads' for future stalks. Once you stop picking the stems by the end of June, just leave asparagus alone other than regular weeding, and some mulching if it gets very dry. They're tougher than you imagine. If only you cold see the wild clumps growing in the ditches around here! I'd dig them up myself but the roots are too massive.

What a distance away, but most my fruit trees produced a few flowers during September, with apples ripening and all :?:  :?:  :?:
