Greenhouse growing
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:16 »
Ok, so I have finally ordered my greenhouse and will pick it up this weekend.

I have a few nice tomatoes to put in there, but what else? Am I too late to start a cucumber?

All suggestions very welcome!  :)

You'll still find stores with peppers, abergines, cucumbers etc..

But I won't name one specific one or I'll get into trouble,
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If it's any help, I have tomatoes (seven varieties) cucumber, peppers, chillis ans spanish yellow helda beans in mine, with the odd pot of herbs like coriander that revel in the heat, and masses of basil

Lots still in the shops and beans shade the side quite well (Mumofstig's suggestion :D) Green shade netting from B&Q over the top inside  :D

Hope you love your ghouse as much as me I do with mine, sorry

Thanks guys.

I have a solitary pepper on the kitchen windowsill and four toms (thanks Robbo!) but that's it for planst... am I too late to start cucumbers etc from seed or would I do better picking up a few plants?

I have courgettes, melons and butternut squash seedlings doing well indoors, but I was going to put them out...

Scabs, can I suggest you keep the melons in, :D as they love warmth. The plants do get quite big, but you'll have space I hope  :D

your probably safest buying a plant, but you might get away with a sowing, depends how many cucmber plants you want , if its just 1 or two plants i would probably jsut get the plants from a garners fair/ carboot / garden centre etc. but if you wanted lots then try and grow them from seed.

Last year i lost my cues to cutworm  :(so had to resow (Burpless tasty green) and that was on the 6th of June :)
Think the f1 all female types have to be sown earlier though
