Has anyone got a failsafe recipe for making fruit leathers with apple (or any other fruit for that matter) and how long do you find they last?
My kids LOVE fruit leathers, but I am very dubious about the sugar content of the shop bought ones and we have a glut of windfalls.

Slice the apple into rings, thread on a string and stretch the string horizontally were the sun is strongest and the wind is windiest.  But somewhere you can cover tyhem should it rain.  I tried it a few years back and it went well, the rings didn't go mouldy and tasted good.
