Hi - but I dont intend to spend so much time on chat forums when there is so much to do. Got the key for a 200 m2 plot close to my house yesterday, north facing slope close to the Tyne! And it hasnt been used for years - I'll get some pictures, and I need to start clearing today, going to have to get industrial on this...... Jez

Keep up that enthusiasm.....but.....don't overdo it! No one can work a plot with a crook back! Good luck

Here we go, a couple of before and after shots!
Good advice on not overdoing it - I'll take it easy - as a newbie I'll be happy to get some simple things in the ground this year, met 'Ray' the neighbour who tells me its a good spot for strawberries!!
Got some compost in the bins at the bottom, and a master-bodge grade shed too.....

Thanks Aunt Sally - Yes, definitely not going to overdo it.....
On a general note - is it OK to burn stuff? I guess this is one of those 'hot potato' questions.
My compost bins are full, the triffids, brambles and ivy offcuts are about the size of a car (on the right in the first picture) and it seems the efficient way to get rid of them if the wind is OK, and not too close to the boundary. There is nothing in my tenancy to forbid, but it seems a bit of a blunt approach...
Any advice?

Find out from your allotments organiser, council clerk or association sec., what the local rules for bonfires are. Best not to start out on the wrong foot.

Hi Jez (fellow northerner!), I wouldn't burn it in situ :ohmy:, I would remove it all pile it up, in the summer on our plot we can have fires around dusk or on poor weather days (just people have washing out during the day).
