My hubby has just invested in a dozen Lemon-scented Cupressus Wilma conifers with the intention of growing them as a hedge.  Is he barking up the wrong tree or will it work?  Thanks folks!

Dear Reg. I'm wanting to plant an evergreen hedge to screen my front garden from the road but am struggling to choose a suitable type of plant. Am thinking of using either Cupressus Wilma or Pittosporum Teuifolium. Would either of these be hardy enough to form a large hedge in a few years' time - and what time of year is it best to plant them? thanks!

Well Cu. Wilma would be OK in Bristol as long as we don't get any very, very bad winters like those two we experienced in the early eighties and the one in 1962- 63.
