Purple crocus' not eaten!
« on: February 27, 2011, 13:36 »
I made an observation this morning.... my girls love to eat the orange Crocus in the garden, but they haven't touched the purple ones at all!
Why is that and what relationship does the colour purple have with the chicken and the purple spray also? Interesting.....

My yellow crocus have been packed to oblivion and the purple left as well   Must make perfect sense to a chicken  ::)

Think I need to purple spray my precious plants - they are always the ones they make a beeline for

I only ever planted purple crocus even before I had the chickens. Read somewhere that wild birds will eat the yellow and leave the purple .

Looks like I will be plating some purple flowers this year to see what happens. I wonder what other colour they don't touch? Maybe blue as well?

A park in the centre of Norwich always loses its yellow & white crocuses to wild birds, but the purple remain untouched

I'm up for an experiment... Need to ask my mum about some nice pretty purple flowers.  Do you think we can beat the girls by planting lots of purple in amongst our other plants? ;)
