Ren's soft egg update- new egg today
« on: March 24, 2009, 12:41 »
Hi all,
continuing from last week's panic over poor rennie and her egg problem, she had a day off yesterday and was sitting when we left for school this morning, and when i checked the house later discovered this- a lovely speckeldy hard shelled egg! All the advice last week was spot on so thank you all very much, it seems with a new strict dietary regime and not going out to the garden till after lunch she is back on track (and looking much more trim too!!) Bless you all  ;)

Think we should frame it Rob after all the consternation it caused!  (I've aged several years worrying about the daft girl)

It becomes easier. You realise with most things, they look after themselves as long you give them all the right things.

Job well done. :)

I reckon once they're all laying properly and have got the idea of it and the routine is there it'll be plain sailing    (never had these problems when i was a small person - we just let the flock out in the morning and they came back at night!).

I am so glad that you've got Rennie sorted, Susu!
Should have had a compo re dark eggs as Lottie is definitely laying now, too.
Three eggs today. :D
(No sign of the elusive blue yet though) :tongue2:

Well done to Rennie!
I also took advice about keeping the hens in their secure run for longer, though I had no problems with egg shells, thank goodness.
I am not very popular with my girls, but they are still very contented.
I have an occassional egg, RedRuby, which is two-toned brown with blue spots on!!!!  Once I figure how to put photos up, I will start a new topic with it.  OH has resized the pics for me to get on with it, but I am a technophobe.

(Susu, can we allow someone to have a two-toned brown with blue spots on egg? :D)

Do you know who lays it, Cathangirl?  :)
