Garden Organic have this to say:

Quote from: Garden Organic

Feeding the soil

Fruit can be very bountiful without regular inputs of food. The soil in a well-managed organic garden should be adequately fertile. If feeding is necessary, then do it in spring from about mid-March onwards when soil activity starts to increase. Over-feeding is counterproductive and will produce leaves at the expense of fruit.

Raspberries and cane fruits, unless growth has been poor, should only need feeding every two or three years with manure at one barrow to 10 square yards (or metres) or use compost at twice that rate. If you have no well-rotted manure or not enough compost, use pelleted chicken manure and seaweed meal at the rate recommended on the packet.

So now is the time to do it, if they need it!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

mdj, poor liitle things have been asleep all winter, and they've moved home, they need time to wake up again. Some take a bit longer than others, just like us.
Don't rush them or they might get grumpy   :D
