We have recently had chickens with impacted/sour crops and have therefore been reading alot about these conditions.

Some forums suggest operating on the chicken.

My question is, is it legal to operate on chickens?

My understanding of the law is that it is illegal to cause suffering to any animal, and you should only act within your competence.  But who actually decides on a persons competence I dunno.

If a chicken needed an operation then I would suggest you take it to a vat to carry this out, diy operations can cause more harm than good.

i would say only a vet should operate on any animal , sour crop would not need surgery well not that i know of .

if you are thinking of doing the surgery then yes u are breaking the law and no doubt u will kill the bird .
