What do people generally do about ants?? I don't usually worry about them but this time round they seem to have nibbled the top out of some of my seeds very annoying!!

I think they have dug up the beetroot patch to make their house.  Lots of very very fine gritty soil.  And seedlings only round the edge of it.

Apparently, boiling hot water helps, other than that there is ant powder.

Boiling water does help; just be aware that it will kill beneficial micro organisms too.

As for ant powder, check first whether it is licensed and safe to be applied to soil where edible crops will be grown.

Good 0ld fashioned talcum powder!! Apply liberally!  Our village is reknown for rats and ants.....strange place!
