Solution 5 seems to work. It sounds cruel, but they seem to feel better in the cool (not cold) water and all of them seem upset whilst being broody. Keep them separate whilst the others lay/overnight then let them be together in the middle of the day. Worked for us. The quicker you spot the problem and start the treatment the better. We either see the broody one with her tail up in the air or the others come to us to complain.

Just logged in to check up on 'broody hen' and came acros this - so read down 'til reached the 'list' & was reading it out to OH when we both collapsed laughing like drains when I got to - 'dunk her bum in water...'  OH said if you think I'm going to dunk her in the pond u got another think coming!!   :blink:      He'll make do taking her out of the box (has done it once already today)

Only prob is -  is she a bit too young to go 'broody' (we've had the 6 girls since early June & most have been laying about 6 weeks)  Being newbies we're unsure - birds seems to be A-OK otherwise - we are particular about keeping them & their house clean inc treating against the dreaded 'mites' etc. Hope its just one of those things, but this is day 2 when she seems to prefer being in a nest box.
