I have ex-free range hens 2/12 years old and they haven't started laying yet after their winter break. i don't use lights in the coop. is it just a question of time?

i'll keep them no matter what, they're in semi-retirement as it is anyway.

yes just give them time, also check they aren't laying anywhere else  .

there's not a great scope for them to hide their eggs, they only free-range on my plot when i let them out of the run.

i also check for sticky beaks just in case they've taken a fancy to their own eggs.

they're getting 10 new friends in a couple of weeks and i'm going to keep the new hens apart yet in sight of the old ones before they're introduced. i hope the pecking order doesn't get too blooming. any suggestions if it does?

If they are 2 and a half upert, they may have run out of eggs!
