Hens laying away
« on: July 13, 2006, 08:24 »
My 7 hens have suddenly decided to stop laying in the coop and have taken to laying in the undergrowth of the three quarter acre garden and the eggs have proved very difficult to find.
How can I encourage them to lay at home instead of laying away ?

Hi,

I find that hens normally lay in the morning, so the answer may be to let them out later in the morning once they have laid to break the habit. This has worked for us, and once the habit is broken they will go back to the nest box to lay. Worth a try
