  Hi, can any one help..... one of my girl's has laid a yoke and white but no shell.The next day there was blood on the floor of the chicken house and coop.She has not laid any normal egg's for 3 days.I have had a good look at her and can not see anything obivious.She is still eating and drinking.This is one of the chicken's that was chased last week by a dog.Is she stressed.Or is there something else wrong with her??

Hello! she may have an egg that has broken inside her!  maybe a little trip to the vets just to be sure? has she laid any normal eggs since the dog incident?

Hi debbie, yes she did lay about 3 normal egg's after the dog attack, until i found the yoke then blood then nothing.I found nothing strange today.So not really sure what to do.

she could have had a very thin shell burst inside her!? that may explain the yolk and white then the blood after!! if it were me i would take the girlie to the vets for a check over and some antibiotics as retained bits of an egg (if thats what it is) can cause egg peritonitus!

did she eat the shell, as sometimes if mine break it they will eat the shel and egg and I can only tell as there wil be some yolk left on the sawdust

If she's an older chicken, she might start laying soft shell or shellless eggs.

Mine are ex batts, and at least one, does this from time to time.  Just means she's coming to the end of laying.

I give a little extra oyster shell to improve calcium, but apart from that, just keep cleaning up the mess.

Though, I haven't seen any blood, and I guess that's the difference.  Can you phone the vet and have a chat about it?
