Hi

Ive tried growing veg for the first time ever this year. Ive harvested a decent crop of potatoes but had to throw some away as were rotten.

Is this likely to be due to potato blight or the very wet weather we have had. Am i ok to eat the non-rotten ones from the same patch

Also many had splits in them. Is this normal?

Splitting is certainly due to prolonged wet weather so that could also cause rot.  Blight causes rotting in storage, not at harvest time.  Either way, the others are fine to eat.

Helps to know where you are based so would you mind updating your Profile please?

I have had spuds rot this year due to the rain, plus soo so so much wireworm it is unreal. I guess that is due to the plot wasn't used for a couple of years before I got it. Gonna be a terrible spud harvest for me...

Dug up my first potatoes this week after being on holiday for 2 weeks...What a mess 80% were rotten saved about10Lbs. I have 3 more rows but I expect they are rotten and its to wet to dig them up. What a disapointment to come home to, wet wet wet!  Will Summer come to late for everything this year in the allotment this year?
