i' m getting impatient, when is the first potaote ready to go in the ground? i don't care which type any suggestions please?

You'll have to be patient for a few months yet, you can't afford a frost with the green bits showing!

I plant some in my back garden early to mid March, but I've got a nice sheltered bit between one of my greenhouses & next door's south facing garage wall & I can always nip out & cover them if it looks like being too cold. I also put some in pots in the greenhouse in February.

Allotment wise I wait until early April, others have put them in earlier & then got caught out with the frost. Being further south than me, you may get away with being a bit earlier.

Sorry, but outdoors wise, you'll have to wait a few months yet.

As for varities, what works for me, may not work for you, depends on your soil, so really you'll have to try a few different ones and see what takes off.

ask your other allotment pals for advice and ask how thiers got on    tatters in thermals at this time year me thinks

I have 4 new tats in a bucket in the greenhouse, but as regards getting them in the ground, normally around end of march for us up here. If your want to start growing stuff get some stuff like spring cabbage etc.
