Flowering Comfrey

Waves Hello  :D

I planted out some comfrey root cuttings about 3 weeks ago having read all about its virtues. It seems to be the only thing growing faster than the weeds around here at the moment    I did notice however that some of the larger plants around 12 inches high are starting to form flower buds, My instinct is to remove them so the plant gets on with root and leaf development.

Should I hack them off or leave them be? I was hoping to get a cut off them this year to feed the toms and peppers.

I have been finding them in all sorts of odd corners in my garden and the ones in the main patch are all flowering. No idea whether I should be cutting or what either though, I'm afraid.  :?
Welcome to the forums btw :)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Wish I could have just found some... It took 2 packets of T&M seeds and 5 months to get 4 plants. I gave up in the end and stumped up the cash for  some root cuttings which looks to have been the right way to go.

If only creeping buttercup had the same properties.

They said to be best harvested for feed before they flower, but let them settle in in their first year, I'd say, don't think flowering weakens them much, but won't hurt to take some off.
