I;m growing the little yellow patty pan courgettes, and they've been doing well, up until the point the squashes get to about the size of a £2 coin  in circumference and they are dropping of the plant.

I don;t know what I'm doing wrong, but the plants have loads of flowers, so I don't want to end Up with no crop form them! Can anyone help please?

hi clarabel not sure how big a 2 poundcoin is but have you got plenty of male flowers on the plant as well ? it could be a pollination problem ?

thanks for replying.

there are lots of male flowers on it, so that is unlikely to be the problem, and there seems to be plenty of insect activity too.

maybe its lack of water/feed ,try a tomato liquid fertiliser might work
i know my courgettes,cucumbers get6 a regular liquid feed and water and there the same family so might be ok.

thanks, I did feed them with tom feed this morninng, and also laid some egg shells round the plants in case it's a lack of Ca, which apparently is a possible cause.

anyway, hopefully the fruit on it now will stay put!

hi all

Pleased to announce that my plants are now retaining their fruit, and I have just picked off the first ( of hopefully many) beautiful patty pans. I'm very excited! Thanks for the advice, I think the plant food really helped!

Now to convince the children to eat them...... :roll:
