Odd Egg
« on: September 07, 2014, 12:51 »
We've had a few strange eggs recently. (See picture above yolks.)

They have a hard bit in them that looks like a squashed bean. I chucked the first couple away, but it's now becoming too regualr. Does anyone know what it is, is it a problem and do I need to do anything to the birds? We haven't worked out which bird it is yet.

The eggs are OK - what you see is the chalazae which joins the yolk to the white.  Hope that helps.

It's gone hard though, on a freshly laid egg?

They are quite firm and stringy.
