I'm thinking of ordering a few trays of vegetable plugs.

What would be good for planting out around now?

Thought about some kale and over winter cauli, cabbage that sort of stuff.

Can I suggest (yet again and no, I don't work for them), that you try Jersey Direct, as their flower plug plant quality is very good, they have veg plants now (I think) and they are p+p free.

Fothergill's despatch good quality veg plants as well, as Sunshineband and I can verify

You will need to get your skates on, Fothergills reduced them a few weeks ago and no doubt they are selling out!
