Title: lager bottles

couldnt find the answer so... am just about to try a lager brewing kit and wondered if i had to use beer bottles or if i could use plastic bottles ie 500ml cola bottles?

You can use glass bottles or plastic coke bottles, Magners / Bulmers bottles are ideal as they are brown so you won't suffer from light strike, which you can do with clear bottles (beer doesn't like sunlight), and they hold a full PINT.

You can usually source empty Magners bottles from your local pub, they are only too happy to get rid of the empties.

ok thanks, are magners/bulmers screw tops or bottle opener tops?! how easy are they to re-top

They are Crown cap bottles.  They are easy enough to cap, either get a 2 lever capper like this
