Jam pan
« on: August 10, 2010, 18:22 »
I'm looking for a copper jam pan. I had a very kick scan on the internet but the cheapest one I could find was about £40.00. Does anyone knows where I could find one cheaper?

If that's a big copper pan it is an absolute bargain!
But you do know you shouldn't make chutney in a copper pan   because the vinegar reacts badly with the copper :(

I got a copper based 'stock pot' from sainsburys for £15 in their sale reduced from £23 I think. It's not as big as a proper preserving pan but suits me as I tend to only do small quantities anyway. It copes with about 3lb of fruit/3lb sugar ok without boiling over and doesn't BURN!

Just looked on ebay.

Loads there, assorted sizes/prices/materials etc. loads cheaper than £40.

Enter "Maslin Pan" into the search.

I'm watching one on ebay at the moment going for £15.00 including postage.
It looks like a vintage one as it was the seller's great grand ma's.
