Greenhouse door runners
« on: December 05, 2011, 20:48 »
hi just having abit of a quandary here, i got a nice second hand greenhouse which i am happy as larry with, however the door dosn't have normal runners, all it has along the top is a copper pipe with 2x15mm ball bearings at either end, im not sure if these are the proper pieces that came with it. here it is :-

my question is can i remove this and add a normal runner setup?...and does anyone have any guides i could follow or watch to do this?, as i have no clue where to start on it. (this is my first ever greenhouse and building it so i havent seen any that you could class as normal) lol

Thanks
Gary

Most of the G/Hs I have had dealings with have had plastic wheels mounted on some type of adjustable slot which have run on or in  an alloy profile mounted on top of the house. The bottom  normally sits in or under another profiled strip to stop the door floating around in wind.
I do not think the runners you have can be original because disimilar metals can cause corrosion.Looks like a mod to me.I would try looking at other houses on lottie or a showground
 Hope this helps    Bob.

Try google for green house diagrams.
There is info on here about assembly and how others have built there own.
Your image looks like a bit of home made stuff and you might have to fiddle to make it work.
Good Luck!
