How do you support your peas?  I know the traditional way is with Hazel sticks but I have never been able to find any. I am trying Ne Plus Ultra this year and they can grow to 5 feet. Would welcome any ideas on what to use.

Hello Lottie Lady,i dont grow peas myself but the guys on our site tend to use either metal or wooden stakes at each end of the row and at intervals along the row and use twine  to support pea plants.Another method i have seen used is the plastic stuff used as barriers on roadworks usually red or orange about 1 mt high, keep your eyes open you can pick it up all the time

I grow Alderman lottie, and they get to 5-6 foot, so I grow them up wigwams like I do my beans.

:D  Thanks munty - it looks a very productive plot you have there.

Thank you everyone for your ideas - I have some of that pea and bean net so I will try that with the canes and do some wigwams too - I think I will try munty's idea for the runner beans now that aunt sally has done the drawing - I'll let you know how it turns out after my girly effort! :D

Hi Annie, This is where I got  Ne Plus Ultra and the Purple Podded peas. They don't do a sugar snap variety unfortunately.
I am interested in growing older/heritage varieties this year and as I had a similar problem as sadgit last year :? I am hoping these will be better.
